This lamp came about as a result of a mock-up for another commission I was working on. It was too big for the project I wanted to use it for so i made a small night light out of it. There are two pieces of square foil with hemmed edges. They are heated up, with a torch, to red hot and then left to air cool. The finish on the copper is a true fire finish. Moving the flame around and in-and-out makes a wonderful, irregular, "smokey" finish. The pieces are then pulled partway into a 4"tube to help with creating the distorted final hand shaped bloom. The center is a rolled piece of bronze screen door screen. It is sewn together with bronze threads taken from other screens. The base is a mottled brown Paperstone (a counter top material) block that has been cut, sanded, and polished. The feet are copper. I think it’s 9"across x 10” high. It uses a candelabra based, LED bulb.
