Kate came to me with a problem. She had a long hallway with no overhead or wall boxes for lighting. There where outlets near the floor but that was all. We agreed on two sconces that would be wired down to the outlets and plugged in there. The fixtures were secured to the wall with screws inside the body pan. Each lamp has a full range dimmer so they can be great for lighting the hall during traffic hours but could also double as soft nightlights as everyone slept.

I was able to create a muted diffusion by overlapping a number of bronze screen strips that helped to mask the light source. The screen is sandwiched between to bars of copper, on each side, made from hammered copper tubing. It’s really a very simple lamp that did just what the client wanted for her hallway. The picture on the right is a work-in-progress shot, before all the copper and brass parts were oxidized to a dark bronze tone. The sconces were 77" tall x 9" wide.
