This was the first fixture of what turned out to be ten lights this client purchased over about three years. They wanted something that would give off a soft light for dining but could be turned up for work at the dining room table. They didn’t want to see any bulbs from the table or from across the room. I came up with an idea for a light over each place setting on the table. They liked the organic flow of the arms which each ended with a hammered and hand formed copper “pod” at the end. Each “pod” housed a small 60w quartz bulb. The heat from the bulb was managed by the completely open top of the “pod”. Now days that is not an issue with the much cooler LED bulbs available. When dimmed, the ambient light coming from the ceiling provided just the right atmosphere for dinner parties. When turned up, it was perfect for tasks. All the copper has been oxidized and hand rubbed. It was just the beginning of many fun projects together.
