This is another collaboration with Mesolini Glass Studio. They had created a single shade to be used as a ceiling light.
I had an idea that using a matched pair of them, as a sort of clam shell lamp, would be a unique way to show off their gorgeous glass.
The shades are created from fused and slumped art glass with thin black, glass, strings.
The center “belt” is sheet copper that has been formed into a hammered and pierced diffusion band.
All the copper is oxidized to a dark, bronze, finish. It then receives multiple coats of wax.
The base is fabricated from black Paperstone (an environment friendly counter top material made from recycled paper).
It has a beautiful, glossy sheen when sanded, oiled, waxed and polished.
The lamp features an full range, inline, dimmer, on the twisted rayon cord.
