I had a client/friend that wanted a handmade plant stand made for her deck. This is the design I suggested. It features a steel hoop that has been heated and hammered to provide a light texture on the surface. I applied gun bluing to the hoop knowing it would break down if outside for a couple winters. The legs and cross straps are copper. The tubing connectors are copper plumbing fittings. In the beginning, the copper had a hand rubbed light patina. Again, I knew it would darken as nature took over. We always intended to let our damp winters finish the stand. It took a couple years but we both feel the wait was worth it. It’s a very simple design and looks like it belongs on her deck.
